New Album ‘record:BREAKUP’

RELEASED DIGITALLY WORLWIDE: APRIL 25TH

Written over the course of 2 years after he released
his sophomore album ‘An Innocent Evening of
Drinking’ in 2008, Declan Bennett presents his
brand new album ‘record: BREAKUP’.

Recorded in New York City with a band of his closest
friends, British born Declan had been performing
alongside Billie Joe Armstrong in Tony/Grammy
award winning ‘American Idiot’ on Broadway and
post show, gigging across New York, trying to get
a feel for this collection of new songs. Billie Joe
unexpectedly turned up at one of Declan’s late night
gigs and was so moved by his new work, he stepped
in to finance the recording of the album demo.

His new musical concept tackles familiar stories
of heartbreak and infidelity in a collection of 12
songs, designed as one continuous piece of music,
encouraging the listener to engage in the sonic
expression of a journey through the final weeks of a
relationship. Self produced by Declan Bennett, the
album is the conviction of an artist who has found his
voice and is unafraid to share his view.

‘record:BREAKUP’ maintains the intimacy of his first
2 acoustically lead records while introducing a fuller,
more electric feel. Declan balances his familiar, frank
approach to songwriting with an intriguing new move
towards a bigger sound.

The album charts a sequence of events, building
dramatic themes of emotional struggles, which carry
a personal yet accessible weight. The listener is
pulled in from the opening prologue of ‘Not Allowed’
through the fighting temper of ‘Easy’. And as the
album draws to an end, he reflects on the unity of the
piece with the challenging contemplation of ‘Freer’,
followed by the committed, universal pulse of ‘Love
What they've said about Declan and his music...

'Uncut ' **** (four-star review of An Innocent Evening of
Drinking) ' Far more than a showbiz wannabe.. Bennett
has crafted some unusual variations on the acoustic singer-
songwriter template... frequently gripping lyrics' Adam
Sweeting

'GT' **** (four-star review of An Innocent Evening of
Drinking) 'Declan's soulful vocals glide through the chatty,
reflective lyrics. His strong songwriting deserves a wider
audience.'

'Rock'n'Reel' **** (four-star review of 'An Innocent Evening
of Drinking') 'A writer who can move effortlessly from the
conversational, the confessional, statements of intent, to
the poetic, moving and tender, Bennett’s songs deliver a
powerful emotional punch without ever resorting to the usual
singer-songwriter trap of over-introspection.' Colin Hall

'He has a voice full of emotion and yearning, his lyrics and
melodies have a pop edge without being lazy or radio-
desperate'
Boy George writing about Declan Bennett in 'Time Out
London'

'I'm absolutely convinced that Declan Bennett is going to be
massive. I have his album on constant repeat'
'Little Britain's' Matt Lucas

'Declan is the real thing. He sings from the heart, and I defy
anyone not to be touched by his songs' – Linda Thompson

Argyle Johansen sounds like Simon beating up Garfunkel or maybe if Bob Dylan and the Old Dirty Bastard were Siamese twins attached at the vocal chords.

What we do: The Dangling Conversation is the improvisational theater duo of Brendan Pelsue and Natasha Haverty. We explore the small scale mania and beauty behind every day relationships. Our performances are loopy, complex, strangely true to life, and yet hopefully different from what you've seen before. One hour-long show may take place entirely at one dinner party, while another may be a string of scenes all touching on a theme, such as "The Kindness of Strangers". islandband-1.jpg

The Fringe are one of the genuine living treasures of the Boston jazz scene. Originally formed back in 1971 by tenor-saxophonist George Garzone, bassist Richard Appleman, and drummer Bob Gullotti as an outlet for their free jazz improvisations, The Fringe have entertained and enlightened Boston area jazz audiences for over 30 years. Bassist Appleman left the band in 1985 to become Chairman of the Bass Department at Berklee College and was replaced by veteran bassist John Lockwood.

Along with their impressive tenure with The Fringe, Gullotti, Garzone, and Lockwood are in great demand as session players and have played with many of the greats of contemporary jazz. Along with keeping up with a busy performance schedule, each of them are well-respected educators helping to inspire the jazz musicians of tomorrow.

Evan Parker:

“If genius is the sustained application of intelligence, then Evan Parker merits the

epithet.” The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings

"The techniques he's developed have been inspirational summits for many saxophonists." -- Richard Cook

Recording and performing prolifically with many collaborators, Parker was a pivotal figure in the development of European free jazz and free improvisation, and has pioneered or substantially expanded an array of extended techniques. Critic Ron Wynn describes Parker as "among Europe's most innovative and intriguingsaxophonists ... his solo sax work isn't for the squeamish." Wikipedia

Jim Schapperoew:
Jim Schapperoew has had a long and noteworthy career as a drummer and
composer. He has been featured on dozens of recordings, beginning with Chris Hinze in 1972. The group appeared at the Montreaux Jazz Festival ("Live as Montreaux" on Columbia records) and added Charlie Mariano recording session on the Black Lion label.

From 1981 to 1985, while living in NYC, Schapperoew led a quintet/sextet comprised of Frank Strozier, Warren Chiasson, Clifford Jordan, and Reggie Workman, and occasionally Roland Hanna.

In 1984, he led a group with George Coleman, Tommy Flanagan, Louis Stewart, and George Mraz that performed at The National Concert Hall in Dublin, Ireland. They were billed as The Terrace All-Stars. This concert is scheduled for release on Kerralee Records.

Between 1985 and 1995, Schapperoew composed and arranged six original pieces for different ensembles. This material, entitled "Uranian Rhythm" has been released on Kerralee Records.

Schapperoew is nearly finished with a Death Metal CD to be released on Kerralee Records by the end of 2011.

"Aleksandra," featuring a performance by Ornette Coleman, is scheduled for future release on Kerralee Records. You can hear this piece by going to myspace.com/jimschapperoew and clicking on "Alani".

"Uranian Rhythm": "...the even longer "Music of the Duet," a genuinely fascinating 21-minute free improvisation between Schapperoew and pianist Charles Farrell, is one of the album's high points, maintaining melodic and rhythmic interest even at its most amorphous." CD Universe

To hear samples of Jim's music, please go to: myspace.com/jimschapperoew.

Charles Farrell:

Since returning to active playing after a career as a boxing manager, Charles Farrell has recorded seven CDs, including two with this week’s band member Evan Parker ("Glossolalia" and "Hope Springs Eternal"), played with Ornette Coleman, and received a composers grant from The Hillsborough County (Florida) Arts Council (resulting in the CD "Cass Street Bridge, Tampa, Florida 2007"). His most recent solo piano CD, "Weather," was recorded in concert in March, and the duet album “Lifelong” was recorded at Lilypad in June.

"Glossolalia" (with Evan Parker): "The musical term "moto perpetuo" describes Farrell's constant, frenetic, nonstop piano performance. The succeeded at playing "faster, harder, and longer than anyone else without pausing for a second." Parker must breathe, so his running musical delivers has pauses. Either musician could fill this recording with the benefit of assistance from the other. The one-two punch of their collaboration is beyond my descriptive ability." John Nemerovski of MyMac.com

with: Theron Brown on keys, Ashley Summers on bass, and Chris Baker on drums.

“Bobby Selvaggio is one of the few young saxophonists on the scene today that captures you with his strong presence, focus, and sound. He carries you with him on his journey through these original compositions and has put together a fantastic group for his new release. I’ve known Bobby for some time and it’s very exciting for me to hear his development, and see his passion and drive through the years grow and grow……Carry on Bobby!!!! That’s what it takes.” Joe Lovano

“Bobby’s CD was really something special. It’s not often that a composer sets up tunes and situations that make the band and every soloist sound special, but once we understood Bobby’s compositions, each and every one of them started to make us sound brilliant. Also, for my money, Bobby is among the best of players out there!” Kenny Werner

JazzTimes May 2011 issue – Andrea Canter

For his sixth recording, alto saxophonist Bobby Selvaggio gathers first-class talent who, like Selvaggio himself, fly somewhat below the radar: keyboardist Frank LoCrasto, electric guitarist Nir Felder, electric bassist Kip Reed, and drummer James Johnson.

Selvaggio’s eight original compositions range from pensive and ambient to down-right grooving. Of the high-energy tracks, the opening “No Turn On Red” presents a traffic jam of acrobatic sax and guitar, burbling Rhodes, and furious percussion over a hefty bass vamp. The rhythmically engaging “Return To Sender” leads off with a bass/drum dialogue, followed by serpentine excursions by Felder and Selvaggio. On the mellower side, “Signature Needed” is an extended drift with lyrical explorations from Selvaggio, LoCrasto, and Felder, each probing with a gentle forward thrust. Stunning harmonies pervade the aptly titled “Dust Bunnies”, with bits of sonic dust delicately colliding in the cosmos, while Selvaggio’s wistful song evolves with joyous twists. The melodic theme of “Movement” subtly suggests “My Shining Hour”, Rhodes and cymbals imparting the crystalline back-drop to Selvaggio’s fine-chiseled spirals.

The closing tracks fall between Funk and fairytale. “Fish Food” evolves from a Coltraneish sax/drum conversation to a showstopper for electric bassist Reed, while the final “Spy Movie” provides the inviting mystery of a thriller. Populist modern Jazz can only benefit from such a “Grass Roots Movement”.

biography

The daughter of an American Air Force officer and a Swiss mother, Eade grew up in a musical household and spent much of her childhood moving within the US and in Europe. She studied piano as a child and decided she was going to be a singer in the second grade. Eade picked up guitar as a young teenager, learning folk, pop and jazz songs and writing some of her own. She played her first gigs in the coffee houses of Stuttgart while in high school there. Later, as an English major at Vassar, Eade sang for a time with a jazz group, Naima, which also included Poughkeepsie native Joe McPhee. Eade transferred briefly to Berklee College of Music, and then finished her degree at New England Conservatory, where pianist Ran Blake became an important mentor and performing colleague. Eade stayed in Boston after graduating and soon after began teaching at NEC. She was an active performer on the vibrant Boston jazz scene in the 80's, forming groups with Boston-based artists including Mick Goodrick, Donald Brown and Bill Pierce. She also traveled in the United States and Europe as a clinician and performer. In addition to her own groups, Eade also performed contemporary classical music and was a featured soloist with Boston Musica Viva, Composers in Red Sneakers, NuClassix and jazz big bands Orange Then Blue and the Either/Orchestra. In 1987 she became the first jazz artist to be accepted into the NEC Artist Diploma program, where she studied for two years with Dave Holland and Stanley Cowell.

In 1990, Eade moved to New York City and released her first CD, The Ruby and the Pearl, featuring Alan Dawson and Stanley Cowell, for Accurate Records. During this time she maintained her teaching position at NEC, and performed in a variety of contexts including soloist roles in two Anthony Braxton operas, duo restaurant performances with Gene Bertoncini, an adventurous trio with Ben Street and Kenny Wollesen performing weekly in the East Village, and duos with Mark Helias and Peter Leitch. She played at The Village Gate, The Five Spot, Birdland, Visiones, and Cornelia Street Caf with groups including Larry Goldings, John Medeski, Fred Hersch, Kevin Hays, James Genus, Gregory Hutchinson, and Tom Rainey. She recorded her second CD, My Resistance is Low (Accurate), featuring fellow Brooklyn resident and frequent collaborator Bruce Barth, George Mraz, and Lewis Nash.

Just prior to returning to Boston in 1996 to begin a family, Eade was contacted by RCA's Steve Backer and signed with the label later that year. She recorded two critically acclaimed CDs for RCA Victor, When the Wind Was Cool featuring Benny Golson, Fred Hersch, James Genus, Matt Wilson, and many others, and The Long Way Home with Dave Holland and Victor Lewis, which highlighted Eade's arranging and songwriting.

Though in the midst of raising two small children, Eade toured in the United States and Europe to support the two RCA recordings. For the next couple of years, she mostly kept her efforts closer to home, focusing on composing and local Boston performances. In 2001, at the request of Columbia Records, Eade recorded a demo of her newer songs. Later, Eade began to record more original material with pianist Jed Wilson whom she met while he was a student at NEC. Eade and Wilson released a CD of duets, Open, in the fall of 2006. Eade also began to reemerge in New York, first with Ran Blake, then in duos and quartets with Jed Wilson, Ben Street, Matt Wilson, and in duo with guitarist Brad Shepik, all receiving critical recognition.

Eade currently lives near Boston with her husband, saxophonist Allan Chase, and their two sons. She has been on the faculty of New England Conservatory since 1984 and also teaches privately in New York. Her students have included Luciana Souza, Kate McGarry, Sara Lazarus, Lisa Thorson, Julie Hardy, Patrice Williamson, Kris Adams, David Devoe, Aoife O'Donovan, Roberta Gambarini, and many others.

Title: Music and Miles II

Tribraco
The creativity of the four tight-rope walkers musicians is expressed in the balance between the structured composition and free improvisation, syncopated and pressing rhythms, joint themes, creating goliardic and visionary atmospheres which leave ample room to the viewer’s imagination, guided by effective and amusing introductions to the pieces.

Tubax is a melodic experiment of electro-dirty-progressive-funk conspired in Bologna, Italy. Since 2007, the band has been stimulating audiences to feel like they are on a psycho-surreal mission to rid the cosmos of evil. Armed solely with synth, bass, drums, and a frenzy of rhythm, Tubax will corrupt your body into action so dynamic you’ll question all you knew about music. Is it possible for artist and audience to synergize together to save the world? One moment with Tubax will provide all the answers.

September, 2008: Entrenched in the Miami music scene, Tristan put his pursuit
of an English degree at the University of Miami on hold despite multiple
appearances on the Dean’s List.

He put together a band. They practiced and practiced and performed their first
show in front of 3 drunks and a hooker. This only gradually improved…

But, within the year, Tristan’s first EP, ‘Duende’ had sold 500 copies
at performances and online. The boys toured, finding that the music was being
very well received and TristanClopet.com was born.

After only a handful of shows, they were voted by the Miami press as one of
the six finalists for the statewide Florida Grammys, invited to perform
on television at CBS4 in Palm Beach and flown to England to open for Sony
platinum recording artist, Sandi Thom.

In January of 2010, Tristan released his second EP, ‘Purple’ which has
been reviewed by over 70 publications alone including NME-Europe
calling it ‘well-crafted and captivating.’ Also included was
PrettyPrincessGirls.com listing him as one of their ‘Boy Crushes!!’ A personal
highlight for Tristan.

A showcase at SXSW led to a personal invitation to open two dates for The
Swell Season in Miami and Orlando (total capacity: 2,200), just after
performing at BayFront Park (total capacity: 2,100) with multiple Grammy
winners, The Inner Circle and two dates on the main stage at the Sony
Ericsson Open tennis tournament. One of which was just before the
Ladies’ Final and attended by over 14,000 total fans.
