03/27 Friday

7:00 PM MSFS presents: Loop 2.4.3's "Transportive Percussion Odysseys"

Loop 2.4.3 employs the gamut of percussion instruments to create
"transportive percussion odysseys," (The Boston Phoenix) "taut
compositions with a stunning
improvisational sense," (TimeOut Chicago) and music containing of both
"action adventures and reveries... all sound[ing] like part of a
well-thought-out tradition, only the tradition has never existed until
now." (NPR - Fresh Air) This March concert will find the group
fresh out of the recording studio. Although the new album will not be
ready for release until the spring, the Cambridge audience will have a
sneak preview of the new material, which is penned by the group and
includes instruments of their own invention.

About the Artists
Loop 2.4.3 is percussionists/composers Thomas Kozumplik and Lorne
Watson. The group's debut recording, Batterie released in 2007 (Music
Starts from Silence), features 6 extended tracks that have been touted
as "a feast of gorgeous sounds," (Lansing State Journal) "Unusually
clever stuff... delivered with precision and style [rating: 5+],"
(LMNOP.com) and "accessible to everyone." (Downtown Express) Their
new album expands their musical language, pushing boundaries further
while at the same time hitting closer to the pop world with a
melodicism and sense of form that is rare in their seemingly
experimental approach.

While Loop 2.4.3 is their main project, Watson and Kozumplik are also active
figures in a cross world of musical genres. They have performed with
Clogs, The Books, Evan Ziporyn, Sufjan Stevens, Shara Worden, Belle
Orchestre, Newband, and their late mentor Robert Hohner. They have
performed at Tonic, The Blue Note, Symphony Space (NYC), The Sydney
Festival, The London Jazz Festival, Cornell University, Michigan State
University, Music Works Northwest, and the Harry Partch Institute at
Montclair State University, among others. www.loop243.com
