Frøy Aagre is the most critically acclaimed female jazz saxophonist in Norway. Despite her young age she has developed a highly individual expression and her compositions are both imaginative and original. Reviewers have compared Aagre with saxophone legends such as Jan Garbarek and Wayne Shorter.
Frøy Aagres album ”Countryside” has received world-wide acclaim from critics and musicians alike. The album was rated as one of the top ten albums in 2007 by the main Norwegian newspaper. After the release of Countryside, Aagre has toured extensively in Europe and played at festivals like Copenhagen Jazzfestival, London Jazzfestival and Prague Jazz Open. Frøy Aagre has studied saxophone and composition in London, Buenos Aires, Oslo and New York with teachers like David Liebman and Iain Ballamy. She has received numerous prizes and grants in Norway.
This brand new quartet will present Aagres original music, contemporary melodic jazz.
