Boston-area CD release celebration

Ron Horton, trumpet
Will Holshouser, accordion
Dave Phillips, bass
Accordionist Will Holshouser's trio has an intimate ensemble sound that is
somewhere between jazz, folk music and chamber music. His compositions draw
on both sweet and sour flavors. Designed for this unusually spare
instrumentation, the razor-sharp arrangements explore a wide dynamic range
with plenty of room for improvisation. Ron Horton's broad palette of
trumpet timbres, Dave Phillips' rich bowed bass, and Holshouser's
rhythmically driving accordion make up the trio's sound. They will
celebrate the release of their new CD "Singing to a Bee," recorded live in
Portugal, on the Clean Feed label. This is a rare visit to the Boston area
for the trio which is based in New York, and a homecoming for Will
Holshouser who grew up in Cambridge.
