Atón is a group of Icelandic musicians that specialize in the
performance of new music. The group has been active since 1998 when a
few friends from the Reykjavik, College of Music were commissioned by the
City of Reykjavik, to perform during the summer as a vehicle for new
creative music.   Aton has performed widely in Iceland and other nordic
countries, including Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The bulk of the
group´s repertoire consists of new pieces commissioned specially from
young composers.

Know Trio of Boston, MA, seeks a new music on the boundaries of chamber
music, jazz, and free improvisation. Blending and overlapping genres,
Know Trio has a penchant for absurdist humor, spoken word, and
performance art. Their music explores the unexpected beauty in the
juxtaposition of contrasting ideas, and searches for meaningful
expression in a contemporary idiom.  Know Trio will be performing two
new pieces at this concert, one by NEC's Prep School Jazz chair David
Zoffer, and the other by Rivers Music School faculty Stephen Halloran.
Both compositions were commissioned for Know Trio by The Rivers Music
Shcool's Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young, where they will
be premiered on April 1st 2006.
